More info...
By Juhani Tontti

Do you want to be on the first place with your home business site on the search engines result page? I am sure your answer is yes, because the number one site gets around 60 % of all clicks from that page. Now the job is to find out ways how to climb to that place. The key is to think like the customer of the search engine.

The job of the search engine is to produce the result page, which fits best to the information request the searcher has done. So it must have the criterias for the best page, for the second best page etc. By researching the top pages, we have learnt these criterias, despite of the fact that the engines will change them all the time.

The angle, which the engines use, is the popularity angle, i.e. if other sites link to a certain site, they in a way vote for this site, and this means that they are popular and useful for other sites. These links must be related and from high quality, i.e. popular sites. So the more backlinks the site has, the higher the search engine will place it. These offpage factors represent around 90 % of the ranking factors.

So do all keywords offer the same kind of opportunity to rank high? No and this is very important. Different home business keyowords offer very different chances for the high page rank, so we have to make a decent keyword research with a quality software.
The criterias for an effective home business keyword is that it is related to your topic, has enough daily searches and that your home business site can beat the top site as to the amount of backlinks. You see, the high search engine ranking is a competition about the best place, you really have to win the present leader. And before you can do that you have to know, why the leader is the leader?

You can start the research from the onpage research. If the top site has done that poorly, that can be one of your chances. The keywords should be placed in the title, subject, keyword list, alt tags and all over the copy. These keywords should then be used in the anchor texts of the written articles. These anchor texts will make the article and the landing page related and then raise the site higher on the result page.

But other home business keywords are more competed than the others, how can you find out those and pick the best ones? Ok, there are softwares, which have the so called KEI figure for each of the home business keywords. This indicates the ratio between the demand and the supply, i.e. makes it possible to find a low competition, but high demand keywords.

It is wise to start the keyword research by entering some very general keyword, like home business, into the software. Now the program will produce a lot of related keywords of which you will select the best ones according to the KEI figure. Note, that you will need tens or maybe hundreds of keywords, because the keywords will loose their power every now and then.

When you have started to raise your home business site higher on the result page, you can very easily follow the development. One of the best ways is to write optimized articles and to distribute them widely online. Now the effect of this system can be checked maybe once a week. You will also see the effect of the competition. Maybe some other webmaster has seen the same opportunity, which means heavier competition.

If you think long term, the useful and fresh content, which responds to the needs of the visitor, is the best way to get backlinks, because then other home business entrepreneurs see your site so interesting that they will bookmark it, which is an ideal way.

Creating A Huge Opt-In List
By Don Alexander

Just as an experiment, a close friend of mine subscribed to ten different opt-in e-mail marketing lists to see which ones are effective. Many websites and online businesses have resorted to sending promotional materials to people who have subscribed to them in an effort to boost their sales or traffic.

Opt-in email marketing sends newsletters, catalogs updates and many more promotional materials to website visitors who have agreed to be updated whether monthly, weekly or semiannually.

Through e-mail, an internet user that is on the list will receive their updates through email. If a promotional material piques their interest they will go to the site to learn more or to purchase outright. For the website operators or owners, this is a chance to remind their list of their existence and parlor their wares. With the numerous sites in the internet that offers the same products or services in one way or the other, the competition can get pretty tight and it is easy to be forgotten.

Back to my experimenting buddy, he tried to find out which opt-in marketing strategies grabbed a person into begging for more. Some would send in very simple fashion, some would very outlandish while there are some that would just lie in between. The differences could easily be noticed and some have gotten the idea of an effective opt-in marketing strategy.

He dubbed them effective because he felt like he just couldn't wait to go their site and learn more, the more persuasive ones even got him halfway to reaching for his wallet and to his credit card before he realized this was only for an experiment. So, there's a key word: positively persuasive.

Many companies and site present their promotional materials in a wide variety of concepts. Each has their own distinctive style and designs, but more than the outline and the presentation, the content and the articles are what keeps the attention of your potential customer locked on to your opt-in marketing medium. Creativity is the key here.

From talking to many satisfied opt-in list subscribers and forums, I have learned of what is essential in opt-in marketing and what makes the subscribers begging for more instead of lining up to unsubscribe.

Keep your promotional materials light, creative and original. Many people are stressed out as it is. Getting a stuffy business proposal rather than a light hearted e-mail may just agitate them more. A warm friendly smile or banter is always more welcome than a serious business meeting or proposal. While you do want your customers to take you and your products and services seriously, you also want to show them that you know how to have fun.

Splash some color in your emails as well as provide some photos and articles that can be related to you but show good news or good light hearted images as well. Provide a newsletter or promotional materials that will keep them in a light mood. Make your materials eye catching and grabbing that they wont be able to take their eyes of them. Pique their interests.

Have good content and article, even if it means investing in an experienced and professional copy writer to write them for you. An effective copy writer should be able to build trust between you and your customers. They should be able to establish your credibility in what they write. It must be informative but not too stuffy. Let go of the professional jargons and "talk"to your recipients.

A good article and content should be able to outline the benefits of your product and services and why they need what you are offering. But do not look to be overeager and too persuasive. It should be able to entertain as well as lead them to buying from you.

Your promotional materials should be clear. Don't leave people guessing. You should lead them to you and not vice versa. Explain to them what they need to do in a manner that won't be confusing. Try to anticipate also what your target client needs. Do your research and information gathering, many sites will be able to help you with that.

Provide clear and crisp images of what you are offering. If the people know what you have for them, they are more likely to beg for more. For example, if you are selling a car, provide them photos but only enough to encourage them to go to your site for more. Again, creativity is the key, if more people utilized their own personalities online, we wouldn't have so many sites and persons looking and sounding the same. Be original. Be you.

Cash And Pay-Per-Click Affiliate Programs
By Jaquone Jefferson

Millions are paying to get a ride on the Information Super Highway everyday. Now, it is widely known that the Internet is an accessible resource of many income-generating activities. Whether you belong to a private sales company or you are just interested in internet marketing, PPC affiliate programs can be a powerful venue to make money from the Internet. A partnership with an affiliate merchant is a win-win situation for the merchant and the affiliate: sales are soaring because of exposure and traffic while the affiliate is earning good cash.

To make things much simpler: the affiliate merchant provides a strip of advertisement and pays you when someone clicks on the ads link. You can get a commission of $0.10 to $0.30 for every click, but it sometimes it can go higher depending on your merchant affiliate. Sometimes, merchants require a quota $1.4 for every 1000 clicks. Plus, you can get discounts from your merchant affiliates if you happen to like their products too. You can just kick back and relax while your website is generating cash. Sounds easy, does not it?

What is PCC Affiliate Program?

PPC means pay-per-click, wherein you get in partnership with an affiliate company that literally pays you for every click. There are actually two types of PCC affiliate programs theirs those who pay a commission based on the number of clicks and the other based on the sales. The pay-per-click scheme is much more popular than pay-per-lead because the affiliate gets paid by just clicking the ad, regardless of whether the visitor buys from the affiliate merchant or not. Plus the chances of a visitor purchasing something from the affiliate merchant are not really that high.

In choosing an affiliate program, read the fine print carefully because some pay-per-click programs get the ratio of the number of people who went to your site and the actual people who clicked on the ad. If you have a heavily targeted website, this can hurt your earnings.

How do I start?

Of course, you need to have a website. Depending on your target audience, choose the best affiliate merchant that is most related to your topic. For example, your website is about Carpentry then you can search for affiliate programs that sell tools used in carpentry.

However, if you do not have a website, thats not a problem. You can put up a content site about absolutely anything under the sun like Taking Care of Dogs or Decorating your own Home. But wait, its not over yet. We are faced by a dilemma on how to increase traffic! You first need to get internet surfers to see your website, then the ad.

How do I increase my traffic?

First, design your website in such a way that it will attract internet users. A user-friendly site is always recommended so that the customers will know which one to click. Take into consideration the look and feel of the advertisement. If it does not look professional, most likely, users will just ignore it. Place the ad on a strategic location where users can see it clearly. Visibility of the ad is always important.

Another way is to post a link to your website in forums, web communities, ezine articles or bulletin boards. However, this method requires a lot of effort and that defeats your purpose of getting easy money in the first place! The key is to do something once and forget about it. Its like putting your business on autopilot. To maintain you pay-per-click business, be sure to track down site activity, so you are updated on how much money you are making.

Can I make more money?

If you think you can go to the next level, you can try a two-tier affiliate program. This gives you the power to recruit affiliates. Other than the money you get from your website clicks, you will also get a percentage of what your affiliate generates. Some companies give 30 percent to a soaring 50 percent commission on all referral sales.
